Is it possible that I left *anything* out...? Eric says yes.
One final story. Our last morning in our Cairo hotel, we were enjoying a delicious hot breakfast in the dining room... Brooks was in a particularly chipper mood and was waving and saying hello and "morning!" to waiters as they passed by. We had seen a group of young, willowy, very elegantly dressed Muslim women on the other side of the room - long flowy black gowns with sequins, gorgeous black hijabs (hair coverings) with matching nikabs (face veils) and perfectly applied dramatic eye make-up. These women looked like Muslim super-models, or wives of some very important men. They finished their meal and passed by us on the way to the door. Brooks caught the eye of one of them and said "Morning!!" in his happy little toddler way. The young woman in front scooped him up into a hug and gave him a peck on the lips, right through her veil. All the women were laughing and asking if they could take him with them. They were practically twinkling with delight over him, and his feelings were clearly mutual. After a few moments, the woman reluctantly gave him back to us, and he waved and said "bye bye, friend!" as they walked away... What a sweet moment! That was probably the only time he'll kiss a veiled woman until his wedding.
I only wish I had had my camera! :)

Who were they??
Brooks is a great ambassador. This story brought tears to my eyes.
We'll never know! But they definitely left an impression!
From a cultural perspective, this incident and the cheeto man (prior post) were hands-down highlights of the trip for me!
